Now I know just who you are, but I don't know a thing about me And I'm in love, but is this all I thought it would be? No (chorus) Now I know that everything means nothing to me, nothing to me Time will destroy us all and take everything away from me, everything away from me And now I realize that nothing satisfies me, nothing satisfies me. So here I am on the ground, searching for someone to feel, but I'm alone and there's no one to know what I need, including me. (chorus) Now I know you and you know me, but you don't owe me anything, no you don’t owe me anything, but I do, but I do Brett Schieber BrettMusic.Net

Music television must have somehow blurred my vision Steady image makes the decision, supply the beat, make the incision to give us what we need now Television and Trash - looks good, but it's meaningless Television and Trash - fattening and contagious Magazines and press clippings, they decorate her wall That's what she wants to be, a star just like they are, she'll do what she needs to Television and Trash - image over substance, Television and Trash - we're all egomaniacs, Television and Trash – it’s catchy but lifeless Television and Trash – blatantly pandering Television and Trash - plastic and soulless, Television and Trash - but we love it anyway

Afternoon in the homeroom they're about to let you go, and the locker slams on the plans you had tonight. You've been messing around with your boyfriend maybe better left alone. There's a wise guy that you know could put your right. And the laughter boy that's out of your mind does he rev your heart? Because it's only lonely spots he shares with you. And the long halls and the gray walls are going to break apart. Believe it or not, there's live after high school. (chorus) And that's why the student body's got a bad reputation. What we need is adult education. Go back to school is a bad situation. What you want it an adult education The teachers don't know about how to deal with the student body and the younger classmen are flashing hot and cool. But your girlfriends care about the watch you wear and are talking about it. Believe it or not, there's life after high school. (chorus) They're calling it a preparation, you're waiting for a separation, you're nothing but another odd number, a memory that you won't remember, so you got a little education, and a lot of bad situations, so you want a little night school, maybe some of it will rub off on you, the boys are busy in the mirrors, trying to imitate their heroes, you make it with a false surrender, for memories that you won't remember, the senior with the junior miss, I wonder what the junior wishes, that she can graduate to adult, that she can graduate to adult kissing

Falls Apart 03:13
Sometimes it's easy to let go, sometimes we drift away But you don't know what it is you want, so you take everything (chorus) It all falls apart, it all falls apart It all falls apart, it all falls apart I'm letting go of what I've tried so hard to hold onto The time has come to break the chains and let you walk away. (chorus) "You've got to let it go", I can't let it go, "You've got to let it go"
5.
Strike Night (live) (free) 03:30
I looked into the mirror and practiced all my lines, I got the call back and took the stage and that's where I met you, so lost and so confused (chorus) It's just another strike night, just another set to break down, just another heart to break as the curtain comes down While pretending to be someone else, we hit our marks, rehearsed our scenes and that's where I met you, so lost and so confused (chorus) We've said the same lines one thousand times but now the time has come for our show to end I'll look into the mirror and practice my next lines, but I hope to see you again some other time
6.
Spinning 02:58
Somebody told me that money is the game To live this life you've got to pay But the more that he accumulates, the less he seems to live and the more that he accumulates, the less he seems to give (Chorus) Do you have a dream you'd like to sell, or do you have a life you want to live? Do you have a clock to watch it turn, or do you have some dreams you'd like to burn? Spinning around so fast that I don't know the day So this is the price that I have to pay But the more that I accumulate, the less I seem to gain But the more that I accumulate, the less I feel the pain (Chorus)
7.
I won't pick up the paper tonight don't want to be reminded of the nine to five because there's only one thing on my mind tonight and that is you the dark outside can't hide my tears from all these years, let them be forgotten for now Won't watch the news tonight don't want to be reminded of the life outside 'cause there's only one thing on my mind tonight and that is you I'm blissfully unaware, I'm…… The rain outside can't disguise my tears from all these years, let them be forgotten for now I'm blissfully unaware, I'm……

She's got the eyes of a tortured angel, fragile as a midnight sun, delicate as a string of broken hearts, but her tears are as solid as stone when she has to walk away from me She tears our photographs off the wall because they remind her of the past, she hears the echos down the hall because maybe time has passed too fast The eyes of a tortured angel
9.
So how can I let it end? How can I take my eyes away from you? Your delicate moves, the sounds you make echo in the room You know that I can see through you, you're not as perfect as you pretend to be, don't cover it up, imperfections make you more perfect to me So how can I relate? You think it's easy for me to find the flaws in you, but you don't have anything to hide, it's all in your mind And as I try to find the lines to let you know that it's alright to touch my skin, inhibitions fall, let me in
10.
Hey, are you listening? Can you hear it in the hollow dives of your mind, the hollow dives that find you around the circles of our lives (chorus) I'll be everything I'm not, I'll sell myself out, I would rip myself apart to be everything you want, everything you want, sell myself out Hey, can you feel me? This strange echo follows my sound, I can feel it in the ground below, but the damage has already been done (chorus) Hey, listen to me. How does it feel to be the powerful one? It's your decision to let me stay or make me leave with what I can't live without (chorus)

This is my first "solo" cd.

Nothing Satisfies Me - I wrote this song about an ex-girlfriend, but as time has passed, I think it may be more about me...

Television & Trash - I wrote this song about someone who was on one of those bad reality tv shows. I was feeling very cynical about how bad/silly/disgusting/pandering behavior gets attention and fame in all kinds of media. I wrote it on the acoustic guitar, then got together with Gavin and we rocked it up.

Adult Education - This song is originally by Daryl Hall & John Oates. I love them and this has always been one of my favorite songs. It's impossible to do them justice, but I thought I could make the song slightly more aggressive sounding, so I did the best I could. Gavin played awesomely on it and I'm quite proud of how it turned out. It's one of my favorite songs to play live with a full band.

Falls Apart - I wrote this song at the end of a relationship....not so surprising, huh? My friend, Roger Reynolds, sang the choruses and the end with me. Like a great friend, he tells me to "let it go", while I complain and tell him that I can't. Ha! Roger has a great cd of his own, "Faith, Love, & Loneliness", on which I played on the songs "Like A Rose" and "Did You Know". You can find it everywhere music is sold.

Strike Night (live) - This song is about my time as a musical director for a theatre company and was recorded live at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. Actually, I tell the story of the song at the beginning of the song.

Spinning - I have worked many, many long days at multiple jobs. I would get up early to go to one job, then go to class, then I'd go to another job in the afternoon, and then go to a job at night.....then repeat, over and over....all while trying to squeeze in time to write and play music. It was draining, especially when all I wanted to do was to write and play music and the necessities/realities of life were preventing me from that (though looking back, it didn't really stop me from writing and recording music at all - I wrote so much back then). Anyway, that's what "Spinning" is about. It actually began with the lyrics and Tree and I turned it into a very early unreleased Arcanum song. When we disbanded, I took the lyrics I wrote, rewrote the music completely, and made this version of the song.

Blissfully Unaware - While playing guitars for fun with my friend, Darrell Leven, I remembered a particular progression that I enjoyed. I took those chords, pulled out some lyrics I wrote a while back, and to put it simply, they just fit. The lyrics are about being scared of the outside world from war, terrorism, etc. You know, everything one sees in the news the past decade. It's also about an attempt to forget about all of those things to enjoy and concentrate on love instead of all the evilness around.
Later, I recorded a more fully realized version of the song for my following cd, "Life From Generation XS".

Eyes of a Tortured Angel - This was the song I wrote after having my first "real" broken heart. I can see how the title of this song might turn some people off, but it came from me thinking about a girl with innocent eyes - you know how someone gives you a look when they really love you? Then, suddenly, and beyond your control, she no longer feels that way. It's a sad thing, but I know that I'm not the only person this has happened to. Ah....anyway, it has one of my favorite lines that I've ever written, "She's got the eyes of a tortured angel, fragile as a midnight sun, delicate as a string of broken hearts".

It's All In Your Mind - Fiona Apple has a great song called "Paper Bag". In the song she says something like, "He said it's all in my head and I said, 'so is everything, but he didn't get it'". I wrote this song as a response to that line.

Everything I'm Not - This song is a sarcastic open letter to a particular record company a+r person.

Falls Apart (Professor Ace Remix) - My great friend, Professor Ace, did this remix.
