Beware 04:40
The evening crashes over me, I can feel the silence The wind blows me back to yesterday, reminds me that you're gone And now I feel so lost without you (chorus) Beware of what you say whenever I'm near Beware of letting me know that you care Beware because time is running short And now I feel so lost without you I hear the sounds of the waves crashing into sand I taste the salt in the air, reminds me that you're gone And now I feel so lost without you (chorus)

Sunrise doesn't last all morning and a cloudburst doesn't last all day So it seems my love has left you with no warning, it isn't always going to be this gray All things must pass, all things must pass away Sunset doesn't last all evening and a mind can blow those clouds away After all this, my love has left you with no warning, it isn't always going to be this gray All things must pass, all things must pass away All things must pass and no dreams can last So I must be on my way to face another day Now the darkness only stay a night time, in the morning it will fade away Daylight always has a good way of arriving at the right time, it isn't always going to be this gray All things must pass, all things must pass away

about

"Beware"
A few years back, I tried to find a friend that I had lost touch with. There was no particular reason why we weren't communicating - just the distance and laziness, I suppose. So, I looked for him on social media and found his page had a bunch of "RIP" comments on it and I found out that he had passed away a week before I tried to find him. I felt terrible about this. As I always do to make myself feel better, I played and wrote music. This is one of the songs that came out of that time. I always liked it because it meant a lot to me, but was never confident with the chorus. I strived to make the words more important and the ones that seemed to want to go into the song just didn't hit me with the weight that I had hopes of, so I had looked at the song as incomplete until now.
Not long ago, suddenly out of the blue, a friend of mine tragically committed suicide. It was an awful shock that nobody saw coming. I still can't even believe it. As always, I turned to music to comfort me and I sang this song to myself. This time around, the words in the chorus made complete sense to me......

The B-side, "All Things Must Pass", is originally a George Harrison song and is one of my favorite lyrics ever. They're so simple, but precise and perfect. These words always pick me up when I'm going through a difficult time.

The cover? That's my dog, Lexi, walking through a trail on the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta last Fall.
