Eyes of a Tortured Angel

from Television & Trash by Brett Schieber

/

about

This was the song I wrote after having my first "real" broken heart as an adult. I can see how the title of this song might turn some people off, but the title came from me thinking about a girl with innocent eyes - you know how someone gives you a look when they really love you? Then, suddenly, and beyond control, she no longer feels that way. It's soul crushing, but I know that I'm not the only person this has happened to. Ah....anyway, it has one of my favorite lines that I've ever written, "She's got the eyes of a tortured angel, fragile as a midnight sun, delicate as a string of broken hearts".

lyrics

She's got the eyes of a tortured angel, fragile as a midnight sun, delicate as a string of broken hearts,
but her tears are as solid as stone when she has to
walk away from me

She tears our photographs off the wall because they remind her of the past, she hears the echos down the hall because maybe time has passed too fast
