Brett Schieber - "Wish" Wish I never saw the light because if I never saw it today might not look so bad Wish I could rip your heart out, then I could feel the love and you could take this pain away from me Wish I could steal your body because your beauty it could take this pain away from me Destroy these demons inside of me...

Anymore 04:11
So this is how it ends, this is what we've become Sunday brings to us a brand new dawn Too tired to make it right now, I haven't got the strength You're in love with a joke and I don't care anymore... So this is how it ends, this is what we've become Didn't used to be like this, it all went so wrong Too tired to make a difference, you question until you fail You're in love with a joke and I don't care anymore... The way you want me to be, belittle me, look down on me, too normal, abnormal, psychologically

She said she had dreams, but she was responsible to reality, it brought her down to me, down to me, where time goes so fast, but she goes nowhere He said he has dreams, but he was repressed by reality, it brought him to his knees, brought him to his knees, where time goes so fast, but he goes nowhere They said they had dreams, but they were responsible to reality, brought them down to me, brought them down to me, where time goes so fast, but they go nowhere We said we had dreams, but we were responsible to reality, brought us to our knees, brought us to our knees, where time goes so fast, but we went nowhere

about

A compilation of a few of my earliest recordings.

"Wish"
Starts out acoustic, ends with a rave-like dance instrumental. The lyrics...well...what can I say? They're full of twisted self-pity, which is a bit difficult to listen to now because it reminds me of a very difficult time, but...this is, overall, one of my favorite pieces of music I've done because of it's juxtaposition of styles. This is the first of many songs I recorded with my friend Gavin. He's amazingly talented. Funny enough, I thought this was pop music at the time, but Gavin laughed and told me that this was the strangest/weirdest song he had ever heard! I took that as a compliment (and still do!), but looking back, I'm not sure why I thought this was a pop song at all!

"Anymore"
This was the first solo song that I had written (away from Arcanum). I was incredibly nervous to sing because I had never done so before and was terribly insecure about my limited vocal ability. However, I gathered up my nerve and I played live for a great friend, Ace, who said he liked it and encouraged me to continue, thank goodness! I'm so thankful for those encouraging words. Later, I drove from Atlanta to Washington DC to record it with another friend, Issa. It begins all acoustic, then the drums, etc, kick in at the midway point. I programmed the drums on an Ensoniq keyboard, ran it through a distortion effect, then played live drums on top.

"Responsible To Reality"
I still cringe when I hear my vocals on this song, but I'm really proud of the music. It begins acoustic, then has a very strange break and kicks in hard with my live drumming over a drum loop. The lyrics are indicative of what was on my mind a lot during that time of my life - trying to figure out what to do when finishing school, how would I support myself....would the fantasies of the future that I had dreamed of come true or would reality destroy those dreams for a mundane life of just trying to get by and make ends meet? - etc.
